Sure, we made them about 2 years ago just basically messing around, never really intended to release them. I found them on an old hard drive a few weeks ago and talked to the rest of the guys and decided to fix them up and share them with the world.

I would add the following:

1. Map with some one better than you
2. look at other maps (in the mappack) and learn what they do and why (everything is done for a reason
3. Look at concept maps such as: Vampscratch 1 and 2, 128. Learn how they made what they made (mostly the Arch, circle, sphere.

The above should help you.

Some personal thing ive learned:
Arches are the building block to all of the curved shapes. Simple arch creation can be made by ^2 the angle as you continue. Ex: to crate a basic curve (or arch) start with the a block pushed in 1 then slant it in 1 on the top side then add a block lined up to the edge of the previous block and slaint it 2 then the next 4 the next 8. Then reverse it so bring it back 4 2 then 1. Copy one side to the other and you have an arch. Two of the above placed together crate a circle.

No if one takes time to teach, then one will learn. There are plenty of good mappers, that I have learned from using co-op. I would warn that one should be a good learner and one will find a good teacher. But to throw this idea out completely would be ignoring a whole side of the learning experience. I will give you that some (I dont think the vast majority) will do this commanding, over-controlling method, but those kind of people would not want a student cuz they'd only screw something up.
